Bloomberg report reveals new iPhone 18 Pro camera, vapor chamber, and modem upgrades
Bloomberg report: iPhone 18 Pro, due Sept. 9, gets mechanical aperture camera and improved vapor chamber.
The mechanical aperture, also described as variable aperture, will allow users to fine-tune light adjustments and depth control, according to the report published Friday. It is one of the first specific explanations of the camera upgrade, which has been widely rumored.
Gurman also said the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have better battery life and improved vapor chambers to prevent overheating. Apple introduced a vapor chamber for the first time in last year's iPhone 17 Pro, and the new models are expected to use a second-generation version.
Apple's in-house C2 modems will be included in the Pro models, the report says. That contradicts some earlier claims that Apple would continue using Qualcomm modems this year.
The new iPhones are scheduled for release at Apple's event on September 9. Further details on the Pro lineup are expected to be confirmed at that time.
