Bluetti launches rugged Pioneer 5000 e-generator as clean alternative to gas generators
Bluetti unveiled the Pioneer 5000 e-generator with 18kW surge power as a cleaner alternative to gas units. Pricing is pending.
While the Pioneer 5000 can be charged from solar panels, Bluetti prefers to avoid the solar generator label. What sets it apart from other large portable power stations is its integrated dolly cart and its ability to start heavy equipment such as air compressors, water pumps and industrial motors. The battery system can be expanded from 5.12kWh to 35kWh, enough to run an average American household at full load for just over a day.
The unit is rated IP65 for water and dust resistance and is designed to operate in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C. It can combine AC and solar input to recharge at up to 6.2kW.
Although the Pioneer 5000 runs quietly and cleanly, The Verge notes that recharging it could be difficult during a power outage when sunlight is also unavailable, and therefore suggests that users may still want to keep a cheap gas generator on hand to charge the e-generator in an emergency. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
