BMX launches MagSafe battery built for iPhone Duo ahead of Friday launch

BMX has announced a 5,000mAh MagSafe battery built for the iPhone Duo, priced at $79.99 with 15W wireless charging.

The 5,000mAh pack uses a custom-size semi-solid-state cell shaped to the iPhone Duo’s folded footprint, 9to5Mac reported. The design is meant to sit flush on the cover panel rather than extend past the edges, a problem the report said many existing MagSafe accessories may face because the Duo is shorter than a standard iPhone. BMX says the pack also attaches securely to iPhone 12 through iPhone 18 series models.

In addition to MagSafe wireless charging, the battery has a built-in USB-C cable that supports up to 20W charging. It also includes a 360-degree rotating ring and a full-color display that shows battery percentage and live charging wattage. BMX says the semi-solid-state cells use significantly less liquid electrolyte than conventional lithium-ion cells, reducing the risk of battery fires, according to the report.

The product name differs between the two 9to5Mac reports. One calls it the BMX Duo 5000mAh Power Bank, while the other calls it the SolidSafe Duo. Both reports describe a 5,000mAh MagSafe battery with 15W wireless charging, a built-in USB-C cable, a rotating stand and a color display; the first report lists the $79.99 price. The second says it is available from Amazon or directly from BMX.

The first report said the BMX Duo is available to order now on Amazon for $79.99. The second report said the SolidSafe Duo is priced at a premium over generic MagSafe packs but did not give a price. Both reports expect more iPhone Duo accessories to reach the market soon, with the second noting that less expensive batteries may launch in the coming months.
