Boox Opens Pre-Orders for Picco, Its Smallest E-Reader Yet
Boox has opened pre-orders for the Picco, a card-sized ePaper reader priced from $100 that anchors the company's new Tiles line of unconventional devices. Shipping is expected in November.
According to Engadget, the Picco's display measures 3.94 inches, while Android Authority puts the ePaper touch panel at 3.97 inches with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, or roughly 235 pixels per inch at that size. Either way, the footprint is no larger than a credit card, and Engadget reports the device weighs about 58 grams, under 0.13 pounds.
The reader uses a monochrome ePaper screen and offers both physical page-turn buttons and touchscreen controls, along with four-way screen orientation. Its adjustable front light has warm and cool settings for different reading conditions. It does not run Android, but Android Authority reports it ships with a small set of utilities including a countdown and a Pomodoro timer.
Storage is handled by a bundled 16GB microSD card, and the device supports expansion up to 2TB, according to Engadget. Boox also includes a magnetic ring case that lets owners attach the Picco to the back of a smartphone, so it can be carried without disappearing into a larger bag.
Pricing is listed at $100 by Engadget and at $99.99 by Android Authority, which adds that US shipping options are included in the pre-order.
Boox teased the Picco earlier this summer and showed it at IFA 2026. The company has described the Tiles series as a move toward form factors that depart from standard tablets and e-readers, aimed at bringing ePaper technology into more parts of daily life. The Picco follows the Palma as the brand's smallest model, and it arrives as small magnet-mounted readers such as the Xteink X4 become more common; Android Authority attributes that interest to the devices' pocketable size and the break they offer from phone screens.
