Bose launches wired USB-C Noise Canceling Earbuds for $99

Bose has announced wired USB-C Noise Canceling Earbuds with active noise cancellation, 24-bit/48kHz audio, an in-line remote and an IPX4 rating. They cost $99 and go on sale Oct. 15.

Bose describes the Noise Canceling Earbuds as a hybrid digital and analog pair designed to offer the company's sound quality and noise cancellation without the need for wireless connectivity or frequent charging. The earbuds draw power from the connected source device even when noise cancellation is on, ZDNet reported.

The Bose Noise Canceling Earbuds include Quiet, Aware and ANC-Off modes, giving users access to noise cancellation, transparency and off audio modes. Bose said in a press release, as reported by ZDNet, that the earbuds have four microphones for capturing and canceling environmental noise. A dedicated microphone on the back of the connected remote handles voice pickup.

The earbuds use the USB Audio Class 2 protocol, which Bose said allows them to accept audio from a source device at any sample and bit rate, while output remains fixed at 24-bit/48kHz. The wired USB-C connection is intended to support high-quality, low-latency streaming, making it suitable for audio and video content and gaming on a personal device.

Along with USB Audio Class 2 compatibility and a proprietary Bose Sound Design DSP, the earbuds use an in-line remote instead of controls on the earbud. The remote has buttons for adjusting volume and track playback. The earbuds also have removable eartips, and silicone eartips are included with purchase in small, medium and large sizes.

Bose will offer the Noise Canceling Earbuds in Black with blue accents on the in-line remote and White Smoke with lime green accents on the remote. A limited-edition Dewdrop Mint color will also be available at launch. The earbuds have an IPX4 water resistance rating, the same rating as the Bose Ultra Open and QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen).

My Bose members can preorder the Noise Canceling Earbuds today. The earbuds will hit shelves on Oct. 15 for $99.
