Broadcom Finalizes $63 Billion Financing Package for Anthropic's AI Chip Purchases

Broadcom has closed $63 billion in financing to help Anthropic buy its AI chips and networking gear, with four major banks and Blackstone involved, while Nvidia puts $3 billion into Meta's expanded $25 billion stock offering.

"Fundamentally, the need for AI compute continues to grow at an extraordinary pace," Broadcom chief executive Hock Tan said, according to the report. "This validates that there is capital available to finance such growth and that Broadcom is uniquely positioned to enable it." Broadcom is providing some financial guarantees against losses as part of the arrangement.

The package lands as equity issuance and debt financing for AI infrastructure scale up together. Meta Platforms increased the size of its Class A secondary stock offering to $25 billion from $22.5 billion, and priced the shares at $625 each, according to the report. Meta stock fell 1.9% on Monday to $630.56 after the equity raise was announced. Cramer wrote that a heavy flow of new stock supply remains a risk for the market, noting that Alphabet priced its own secondary offering at $355.20 in June and closed Monday at $316.80.

Nvidia said it is investing $3 billion in Meta's equity offering and announced a deeper partnership with the Instagram parent on Muse, aimed at optimizing inference and training performance. Meta will expand its use of Nvidia hardware, including Vera Rubin racks and networking equipment, according to the report.

Among data-center suppliers, Celestica rose more than 12% after the maker of server racks and other data-center technology reported an earnings beat and issued 2027 guidance for profit and sales well above expectations. Google and Meta are key customers. "We continue to pursue investment plans in support of anticipated multi-year growth, supported by 2028 customer demand forecasts that are meaningfully higher than our 2027 revenue outlook," the company said in its earnings release, according to the report.

Corning, another data-center supplier, reported a modest beat on third-quarter revenue and earnings, and its shares were flat. Cramer wrote that demand for fiber optic cable is climbing on AI buildout. The stock was sold from his charitable trust's portfolio on Sept. 1 at higher levels to protect gains and reduce AI exposure, according to the report.

Broader markets were set for a higher open Tuesday, extending Monday's gains as the AI trade recovered, with oil prices and the 10-year Treasury yield slightly lower, the report said. In other earnings, Boeing posted a loss of 34 cents per share, wider than expected, while revenue and free cash flow topped estimates; Coca-Cola beat on earnings and revenue with organic sales up 7% and raised its full-year earnings growth outlook to at least 11%; UPS beat on revenue and earnings per share and lifted its full-year guidance; and Whirlpool missed on revenue and operating income and cut its full-year outlook, with shares down 7% premarket.
