iOS 27.2 Brings Back Messages Suggestions After iOS 27 Delay

iOS 27.2 restores Messages Suggestions, a contextual one-tap feature delayed from iOS 27 for reminders, notes and events.

The feature appears as small action buttons beneath messages when they are relevant. Apple says Messages offers one-tap suggestions based on the context of a conversation, making it easier to create a reminder or note, for example. If someone asks for photos, Messages can also help find suitable images by recognizing keywords, locations and people in the user's library. If a message mentions an event, Suggestions can offer to add it to the calendar.

Suggestions were available during the iOS 27 beta this summer, and 9to5Mac's reviewer said the feature generally worked as expected. The reviewer's main complaint was that suggestions sometimes appeared when the context did not clearly justify them, including prompts to add items to Notes, Reminders or Calendar. Shortly before the public launch last month, Apple delayed the feature into a future software update.

In iOS 27.2, Suggestions have returned for all users. 9to5Mac reported that it now sees far fewer suggestions in Messages conversations, and that when they appear, the reason is obvious. The reviewer said the change suggests the feature benefited from additional fine tuning, which may explain why it was pulled from the initial iOS 27 release.

Users who want more control over the types of suggestions that appear can configure categories in Settings under Apps, Messages and Suggested Actions.
