Brothers, Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, Premieres on Apple TV

“Brothers” was announced last June, with Lee Eisenberg, whose credits include “The Office” and “Jury Duty,” serving as showrunner. Harrelson and McConaughey both star in the series and are among its executive producers. The season consists of eight episodes, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday through November 4.

Apple TV describes the premise this way: McConaughey and Harrelson play fictionalized versions of themselves, and their lifelong friendship is thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret that they might actually be brothers. After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. What begins as a healing getaway spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor, accidentally lets slip the buried secret. As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew juggles a different identity crisis: a potential run for Governor of Texas. Apple TV calls the result a heartfelt, chaotic and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame and the messy line between myth and reality.

The show marks McConaughey’s second collaboration with Apple TV, following last year’s Apple Original Film “The Lost Bus.” For Harrelson, it is also his second project on the platform, following his role as Moe Berkus in “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle. Its lineup includes “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Studio,” “The Morning Show,” “Shrinking” and “Silo.”
