Capturing Bigfoot Sets Prime Video Rental and Purchase Release in US and Canada
Marq Evans’s Bigfoot documentary will be available to rent or buy on Prime Video in US and Canada from Oct. 20, 2026.
TechRadar reported that there is no free way to watch the documentary. Viewers in the US and Canada can rent or buy it on Prime Video without a Prime Video subscription, but they need a free Amazon account; the report also mentions a free 30-day Amazon Prime trial. A handful of cinema screenings are scheduled in the US throughout October, according to the report.
The documentary can be streamed through the Amazon Prime Video website and apps for Android, iOS, Fire TV, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Roku, Samsung, Sony and LG smart TVs, TechRadar reported. For viewers outside their country who cannot access Prime Video, the report recommends using a VPN and names NordVPN as its top choice, citing a two-year plan at $2.99 per month and a 30-day refund.
TechRadar reported that the film includes Clint Patterson, son of Roger Patterson; Patty Patterson, Roger Patterson’s widow; Bob Gimlin, co-witness and participant in the 1967 filming; Bob Heironimus, who has claimed he wore a Bigfoot costume in the original film; anthropologist and Bigfoot researcher Jeff Meldrum; Bigfoot researcher Larry Lund; Greg Long, author of The Making of Bigfoot; and Bill Munns, a special-effects artist and analyst of the Patterson-Gimlin footage. The report also lists Vaile Thompson, Sandy Collier and Teresa Brooks as participants, with Brooks connected to the discovery of previously unseen 16mm film footage.
The source said skeptics have long argued that the Patterson-Gimlin footage shows a man in a costume. Costume designer Philip Morris has claimed he supplied Patterson with a mail-order gorilla costume and described its fur as Dynel, an acrylic synthetic fibre attached to a fabric backing, according to TechRadar. The report said that while skeptics call Capturing Bigfoot the definitive debunk, the film does not fully explain Patty’s rippling muscles; Bigfoot fans have claimed that changing thigh muscles, contracting calf muscles and rippling neck muscles rule out the man-in-a-costume explanation.
