ChatGPT for iPhone adds a handy shortcut to attach recent photos quickly

OpenAI has added a new gesture to the ChatGPT iPhone app, allowing users to long-press the + button to quickly attach one of their four most recent photos. The update also brings other performance and UI improvements.

The update shortens the previous flow of tapping +, then Photos, and then selecting an image from the library. As OpenAI's Adam Fry shared on X, the long-press gesture displays the four most recent photos, and users can pick one to attach before asking a question or using it as part of their prompt.

The report notes that this change comes alongside other ChatGPT improvements this week, including better awareness of the current time, faster loading and performance for long conversations on the web, and clearer UI updates when users are waiting for an internet connection.

Background context provided by the report: iOS's Visual Intelligence has been available for nearly two years, but it remains limited to relatively recent iPhones and is not available in every region.
