Chest Pain Center Smart Full-Cycle Management Project Launches as Experts Advance ACS Follow-Up Consensus Update

At cardiovascular meetings in Rizhao, experts led by Ge Junbo advanced an update to a consensus on long-term follow-up for acute coronary syndrome patients and launched a chest pain center smart management initiative. iFlytek Healthcare will provide AI and operational support.

After 15 years of chest pain center construction, China's in-hospital mortality rate for acute myocardial infarction has fallen from 10.1 percent to about 3 percent, and the survival rate of patients after arrival at hospital has reached 96 percent, according to the report. Ge Junbo presented data showing that about 79 percent of acute myocardial infarction deaths in China occur outside hospitals. With in-hospital emergency efficiency gains approaching a ceiling, post-discharge rehabilitation, long-term follow-up and recurrence prevention have become the more challenging 'second half' of cardiovascular prevention and control.

The report described a mismatch on both sides. For patients, discharge is the start of rehabilitation rather than the end of treatment, but traditional services largely stop at discharge, leaving gaps in understanding medical advice, monitoring conditions, connecting with doctors and arranging follow-up visits. For clinicians, high-quality resources remain concentrated in in-hospital diagnosis and treatment, while manual follow-up is inefficient, inconsistent and often unpaid, making large-scale out-of-hospital management difficult without support.

The consensus update seminar focused on three areas. First, disease coverage will expand from ACS alone to all chest pain center diseases, including aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism and low-risk chest pain. Second, the management period will extend from post-discharge follow-up to full-cycle management covering rehabilitation, chronic disease maintenance and long-term follow-up. Third, management methods will add dual-heart management, comorbidity management, patient self-empowerment and two-way referral coordination. The seminar's most significant conclusion was to list information technology and artificial intelligence as important auxiliary tools for out-of-hospital management, establishing AI's role at the industry standard level.

The Chest Pain Center Smart Full-Cycle Management Action Project was launched in parallel. It will follow a path of pilot first, gradual expansion and system improvement. The first group of partner hospitals will carry out validation; later the project will expand and be incorporated into chest pain center quality control, optimize service standards and operating mechanisms, and form a replicable and scalable smart management plan for nationwide use.

iFlytek Healthcare is the core technology and operations support provider for the initiative. The company's AI post-discharge patient management platform is built on a domestic medical large model, years of medical scenario experience and an operating system validated at multiple top-tier hospitals in China. The platform covers intelligent information collection, stratified risk assessment, individualized plan design and dynamic follow-up adjustment. It aims to let doctors focus on core decisions while reducing out-of-hospital risks and improving patient outcomes, according to the report.

Ge Junbo said the project should rely on expert resources and clinical data, integrate iFlytek Healthcare's large model algorithms and full-process AI management capabilities, and follow open collaboration and shared development to advance smart full-cycle management for PCI patients after chest pain center treatment.

The cooperation between Ge Junbo and iFlytek Healthcare dates back to a 2018 human-machine dialogue at the Oriental Cardiology Conference, known as 'Da Ge - Xiao Ge,' which brought AI voice interaction into a cardiovascular academic setting. The two sides later worked on translating results from the Ministry of Science and Technology's 14th Five-Year Special Project on panvascular disease prevention and treatment, and released versions 1.0 and 2.0 of a panvascular disease comprehensive management platform.

According to the report, iFlytek Healthcare's platform uses the Spark Medical large model, whose AI capability passed the written exam for China's national clinical practitioner qualification and which ranked first in the MedBench agent evaluation with a comprehensive score of 98.9. Its medical speech recognition accuracy is 98 percent and supports 14 regional dialects. More than 150 disease-specific management pathways are based on high-level evidence-based medicine and expert review. The operating model combines AI, online health managers and offline operations.

In hospitals where the platform has been deployed, the report said overall patient follow-up coverage rose to 98 percent, patient satisfaction reached 95 percent, the planned revisit rate increased from 39 percent to 67 percent, medication adherence rose from 49 percent to 95 percent, and the three-month recurrence rate for key specialty patients fell to 0.9 percent. The platform has been deployed in Shandong, Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, including Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University and Anhui Provincial Hospital.

As China begins the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the consensus seminar and action project are moving forward together. iFlytek Healthcare said it will continue to develop cardiovascular applications with clinical experts and the chest pain center platform and will reuse the validated full-course management model in more chronic disease areas.

Editor's Summary

At cardiovascular meetings in Rizhao, experts led by Ge Junbo advanced an update to the consensus on long-term follow-up for acute coronary syndrome patients and launched the Chest Pain Center Smart Full-Cycle Management Action Project. The update expands disease coverage, extends management beyond discharge and formally includes AI as an auxiliary tool. iFlytek Healthcare will provide the AI platform and operations support, with initial deployments reported at multiple Chinese hospitals.
