China's Wujing Future Power Suspends Operations as Unpaid Wages Near 8 Million Yuan

Nanjing-based embodied-AI startup Wujing Future Power has halted work and owes nearly 8 million yuan to employees, while Unitree's H2-X robot lost a leg during a public demo and Apple is investigating iPhone Duo screen defects.

Employees said wages have not been paid since August, housing fund contributions stopped in September and social insurance payments stopped in October; some workers are seeking labor arbitration, according to the report. On Oct. 22, Yuan said he could not contact the actual controller and declined to comment, while calls to Cui's phone were busy. Wujing Future Power was incorporated on Feb. 11, 2026, with registered capital of 10 million yuan. A June 15 report by local Nanjing media said the company had signed nearly 500 million yuan in framework orders with central state-owned enterprises, held nearly 500 million yuan in local market reserve orders and had 110 million yuan in financing in place.

At the 2026 World Physical AI Conference and Unitree Partner Ecosystem Conference on Oct. 25, a Unitree Technology humanoid robot lost a mechanical lower leg from its joint during a side somersault demonstration, according to Sanyan Technology. The H2-X robot, which Unitree unveiled on Oct. 21, failed to steady itself, fell sideways and detached a leg at the joint. Unitree had promoted the model with demonstrations including denting a car door with a kick and landing from a 4-meter-high platform, positioning it for security and emergency-rescue scenarios. Unitree had not issued a public statement as of publication.

Apple iPhone Duo users have reported bright lines and cracks on the folding screen, mostly just above the hinge, according to Kuaikeji and Zhongxin Jingwei. One Australian user said the device cracked about six hours after delivery and fewer than 20 folds, while Chinese users described a crack of about 3 centimeters and another thinner line across the right half of the screen. Apple customer service said the black-and-white line feedback was not a hardware problem and might be related to software UI changes, and that Apple is investigating and will fix it through a software update. If after-sales inspection confirms the damage was not caused by human factors, Apple will replace the device; if impact damage is found, users must pay for repairs. Out-of-warranty inner-screen repair is estimated at 7,998 yuan without AppleCare+, or a 628 yuan service fee with AppleCare+.

XPeng Vice President Yu Tao said the term laodeng, or old geezer, used by MONA product manager Enta at a launch event referred to internal core managers and was not aimed at external users, according to First Financial. Yu said the apology video was Enta's own initiative after some viewers misunderstood the remark, and he offered a 1 million yuan reward to anyone who could prove XPeng arranged media hype around the incident. He criticized self-media for escalating the issue to a negative judgment of young people.

ByteDance's commercialization GenAI R&D head Wen Shilei left the company in October and may join Octopus Dynamics, an embodied-AI startup founded in January 2025, as a partner, according to DACHANG FUBAO. Wen joined Baidu through campus recruitment in 2011 and ByteDance in 2021, where he led smart creation XR and commercialization GenAI. After his departure, remaining team members will transfer to other departments. GenAI head Peng Bingyue and China head Yuan Zehuan had left earlier.

In other corporate developments, Huawei director and global procurement certification management department president Peng Bo left after more than 27 years, and Huawei terminal BG CEO He Gang was added to the board, according to Sina Technology. Peng wrote on WeChat Moments that he had spent 9,952 days at Huawei.
