Chrome 154 Brings Email Verification to Android, Google Says

Google is extending its Email Verification origin trial to Chrome on Android with Chrome 154, allowing supported sites to confirm an email address through the browser. The feature could replace verification emails or one-time codes, but both the website and email provider must support Google’s protocol.

The option appears under Settings > Addresses and more as a Verified Email section, Android Authority reported, with an “Automatically confirm your emails” toggle. When enabled, Chrome may be able to prove that an email address belongs to the user without sending the person to their inbox first.

Google said the Chrome feature is separate from Android’s Verified Email system for apps, though it is working to make the two experiences more consistent. The company has been testing Email Verification on desktop for months, and Chrome 154 marks its move to Android.

Chrome already stores saved addresses and payment details to help with form filling. The email verification trial would add another type of automatic confirmation for supported sites and email providers. Because the protocol depends on support from both the website and the email provider, the feature will only work where those conditions are met, according to Android Authority.
