Claude adds CarPlay support, giving drivers five major AI chatbot apps to choose from

Anthropic's Claude app now works with CarPlay, joining ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok and Meta AI in Apple's in-car conversational app category.

CarPlay has supported conversational apps since iOS 26.4, according to 9to5Mac. This category includes AI chatbot apps. A few days ago, Meta AI joined the list that already included ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok. Claude was the last major holdout among leading AI companies.

This week's Claude iPhone update is the first to include CarPlay support, 9to5Mac reported. The app shows a list of recent chats that can be resumed, or drivers can initiate a new voice chat with Claude's voice function.

Separately, Apple's own Siri AI will join CarPlay starting with iOS 27, an update currently in beta ahead of its official launch this month. With Claude's arrival, all five major AI chatbot apps now offer a CarPlay experience.
