CMF launches first Bluetooth speakers in two sizes starting at $59
CMF launched its first Bluetooth speakers in $59 and $109 models with customizable panels and IP68 rating.
The smaller $59 CMF Speaker S uses a custom-tuned 45mm full-range driver paired with two passive radiators to boost low-end frequencies. The larger $109 CMF Speaker M has two drivers, including a 10W tweeter and a dedicated 25W woofer, which CMF says improve bass performance and separation of instruments and singers.
Both models come in white, dark gray, orange and turquoise. They offer up to 18 hours of battery life, an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, and sound profiles that can be customized through the Nothing X app.
The speakers' customizability extends to their design. A multifunction knob on the front controls volume and playback, and the entire front panel, including a vertical flap on top that can be used for hanging, can be removed and swapped with an alternate color or a completely different design. CMF plans to release the official design file so modders can 3D-print their own customizations.
Connectivity features include dual-device connection for switching quickly between two wireless audio sources, Bluetooth 6, fast pairing using NFC, Google Fast Pair or Microsoft Swift Pair, and audio over a USB-C cable. Users can pair two Speaker S units or two Speaker M units, but cannot mix the two sizes, for a left-and-right stereo mode. An Auracast-based party mode can synchronize the full mix to several other speakers simultaneously, even speakers from other companies.
CMF has not directly cited a grocery store dairy aisle as the inspiration for the speakers, but the hardware resembles electronic milk cartons. Like CMF's Headphone Pro, which launched a year ago, the Speaker Series is positioned as affordable hardware with distinctive designs and bright color options intended to stand out from competitors.
