CMF's First Portable Speakers Are Shaped Like Milk Cartons
CMF launched its first portable speakers, the $59 Speaker S and $109 Speaker M, shaped like colorful milk cartons and available now.
The smaller Speaker S has a 45mm full-range driver and a pair of passive radiators to boost bass. The larger Speaker M has a 10W tweeter, dual drivers and a 25W woofer, with two speaker outlets, and is roughly double the height of the Speaker S. Both speakers have Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, IP68 dust and water resistance ratings, and CMF claims up to 18 hours of playback. They charge through USB-C ports, which can also be used for audio input. The speakers support NFC pairing, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair.
At these prices, Engadget said it was most surprised by the option to pair two Speaker S units or two Speaker M units together. An S and an M cannot be combined. The speakers also support Auracast, which Engadget noted is appearing in more devices from more companies. Engadget received a pair of the smaller speakers and said they sounded surprisingly rich for their size and price. The publication warned that no USB-C cable is included.
CMF says it will release the design files so devoted listeners can 3D print custom handles and accessories, similar to some past Teenage Engineering products. Both speakers are available now on Nothing's retail site.
