Counterpoint: OLED MacBook Pro to help drive 50% rise in OLED notebook display shipments in 2026

Counterpoint expects OLED notebook display shipments to rise 50% in 2026, helped by Apple's next MacBook Pro and AI PCs.

Within the advanced notebook display market, Counterpoint expects OLED to widen its lead over MiniLED. OLED is forecast to rise from 56% of shipments in 2025 to 75% in 2026, according to the report. MiniLED is expected to fall from 44% to 25% over the same period. The shift would mark a further consolidation of OLED's position in premium notebook panels.

Counterpoint attributes part of the OLED growth to Apple's anticipated adoption of the technology in next-generation MacBook Pro models. The report also points to continued demand for premium AI PCs. 9to5Mac reported that the next MacBook Pro is currently rumored to be announced on Oct. 27 with a touchscreen display and a redesigned, significantly lighter chassis. Those product details remain unconfirmed by Apple.

The report says OLED notebook display shipments are forecast to rise 50% in 2026 and another 24% in 2027. "Apple's anticipated adoption of OLED in next-generation MacBook Pro models, alongside continued demand for premium AI PCs, is expected to drive this growth," Counterpoint said. The firm also cites technology and manufacturing advances such as tandem OLED architectures, which improve brightness, power efficiency, and panel longevity.

Apple already uses tandem OLED in the iPad Pro, where two OLED layers work together to deliver higher full-screen brightness. The company is widely expected to use a similar two-stack tandem OLED architecture for upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, according to the report. Counterpoint expects OLED notebook panel shipments to grow at a compounded annual rate of 26% between 2024 and 2030, with panel revenue forecast to grow at 35% per year over the same period.

Editor's Summary Counterpoint Research expects OLED notebook display shipments to rise 50% in 2026, with Apple's next-generation MacBook Pro and premium AI PCs among the drivers. The report also projects OLED will take 75% of advanced notebook display shipments that year, up from 56% in 2025. Longer term, Counterpoint forecasts a 26% compound annual growth rate for OLED notebook panel shipments from 2024 to 2030.
