Cricut Debuts StickerPix Machines for Printing, Cutting and Laminating Stickers
Cricut announced the StickerPix Print plus Cut and StickerPix Print, compact machines that turn photos and images into pre-cut stickers. They start at $299 and $169, with the larger model adding cutting and both using built-in lamination.
The larger and more expensive model, the Cricut StickerPix Print plus Cut, starts at $299 and is also available as part of pricier bundles that include more consumables. It is compatible with 4x7-inch sticker sheets and 4x6-inch photo paper. It uses a dye-sublimation printing process that relies on heat instead of spraying ink for better color reproduction.
The smaller Cricut StickerPix Print starts at $169 and is also available as part of larger bundles. It carries forward most of the functionality of the larger model but without cutting capabilities. It instead prints directly to pre-cut sticker sheets with shapes that include circles, rectangles, and squares, and it can also be used to print 4x6 photos.
Both new machines include a built-in lamination process that makes prints resistant to water, scratches, and fading over time, unlike Cricut’s larger crafting machines. The biggest difference between the StickerPix Print plus Cut and Cricut’s larger machines is that the new model can cut only through the top layer of a print, producing kiss-cut stickers that come out still attached to a larger sheet. Cricut’s other machines can make die-cut stickers that are sliced right through the backing paper.
The Verge described the new Cricut StickerPix machines as possibly the cheapest way to launch an Etsy shop.
