Crystal Lake, the first Friday the 13th prequel series, premieres October 15 in the US and Canada. Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees in the eight-episode show, with Stan and Sky Atlantic releases scheduled later.

All eight episodes premiere at 3 a.m. ET on Thursday, October 15 in the US on Peacock, TechRadar reports. Peacock pricing starts at $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year for a plan that carries originals and live sports. TechRadar notes that viewers can access Peacock virtually for free with a Walmart Plus 30-day trial for $1.

In Canada, all eight episodes arrive on Crave on Thursday, October 15. Crave subscriptions start at CA$11.99 per month or CA$119.99 per year. In Australia, Stan will release all eight episodes on Friday, October 16, with a subscription starting at AU$9.99 per month. The UK release comes later: Crystal Lake premieres on Sky Atlantic at 2 a.m. BST on Monday, October 19, and all eight episodes will be available as a boxset from launch. A Now Entertainment Membership starts at £4.99 per month.

The story begins a year after the tragedy at Camp Crystal Lake. The town has moved on, but Pamela Voorhees remains furious and resists attempts to convince her to come to terms with her loss and return to normality, according to TechRadar. She holds the camp's counselors responsible and has not given up hope that Jason is still out there. The woods surrounding the lake have become dangerous. A spate of fatal attacks suggests a bear must be at large, but Pam suspects that something or someone else is behind the killings.

The cast includes Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, William Catlett as Levon Brooks, Devin Kessler as Briana Brooks, Cameron Scoggins as Dorf, Gwendolyn Sundstrom as Grace, Callum Vinson as young Jason Voorhees, Zachary Branch as adult Jason Voorhees, Nick Cordileone as Ralph, Joy Suprano as Rita, Danielle Kotch as Claudette, Christopher Denham as Theodore Landau, and Phoenix Parnevik as Barry.

TechRadar's guide says viewers who are away from home can use a VPN to make their device appear as if it is back in their home country and unlock their usual streaming services. The publication recommends NordVPN and says it comes with up to 75% off and three extra months free, and that it unlocks Peacock, NOW, Crave and Stan. TechRadar also states that it tests and reviews VPN services for legal recreational uses, such as accessing a service from another country subject to that service's terms and conditions, and protecting online security and privacy when abroad. It does not support or condone illegal or malicious use of VPN services, and says consuming pirated paid content is neither endorsed nor approved by Future Publishing.
