Deliveroo to Begin First UK Robot Deliveries This Month as Dutch Retailer Pulls Meta Ray-Ban Glasses
Deliveroo's first UK robot deliveries are due this month, TechRadar reports, while Dutch retailer Hans Anders halts Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses sales over privacy concerns.
The Deliveroo item, published by TechRadar on 5 October 2026, did not name the UK cities where the service will launch, the number of robots to be used, the companies supplying them or a start date within the month. The report carried no statement from Deliveroo.
In a separate report the same day, TechRadar said Hans Anders had stopped selling the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, a product made by Meta and sold under the Ray-Ban brand. The outlet attributed the decision to privacy concerns. The report did not set out how the retailer communicated the move, whether it applies to online sales, physical stores or both, how long it will last or how many shops are affected. Neither Hans Anders nor Meta was quoted in the account.
Both reports were published alongside two shopping articles from TechRadar on the same day. In the first, Matt Bolton, the site's managing editor for entertainment, said he had picked 27 gadget discounts in Currys' Epic Deals event. In the second, Matt Hanson, managing editor for core tech, wrote that a laptop deal at Argos was selling fast but advised readers against buying it. Both are editorial selections of retailer promotions rather than announcements by Currys or Argos.
Hans Anders is a Netherlands-based retailer of optical products, which places the Meta Ray-Ban glasses among the eyewear lines it sells. The TechRadar report did not indicate whether the suspension is temporary or whether other Dutch or European retailers have taken similar steps.
Neither the Deliveroo nor the Hans Anders report included financial details, deployment schedules or responses from the companies involved, and TechRadar did not say how it obtained either story.
