Dell 27 Plus QHD monitor drops to $169.99 at Amazon

The S2725DSM pairs a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 178-degree viewing angles. Dell lists a 1500:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits of brightness, a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync support. The matte screen is designed to reduce reflections from nearby windows and overhead lighting. Two built-in 3W speakers remove the need for separate audio equipment, and the stand adjusts for height, tilt, pivot and swivel. Connectivity covers HDMI and DisplayPort. Dell also includes ComfortView Plus and cites TÜV Rheinland four-star eye comfort certification with reduced blue light emissions.

In his review of the S2725HSM, TechRadar's Collin wrote: "For me, it does everything a remote worker or general office staff needs it to do, and does it well." The publication said Dell business monitors generally balance features for work and have performed well in its tests.

TechRadar put the current discount in context, noting that $169.99 is not the lowest recorded price for the model, which has previously sold for $161.49.

The publication recommended the monitor for home office workers, students and anyone wanting a larger, sharper display for everyday computing, multitasking and entertainment. It said the QHD resolution provides more desktop space than Full HD. It advised shoppers who need 4K resolution, USB-C connectivity, or a monitor that can charge a laptop through a single cable to skip this model, saying a 4K screen will offer sharper text and more detail.

Editor's Summary

Amazon has discounted Dell's 27-inch 144Hz QHD monitor, the S2725DSM, to $169.99 from $219.99, with TechRadar noting the price remains above a previous low of $161.49. The screen combines a 2560 x 1440 IPS panel, dual 3W speakers and a fully adjustable stand, but omits 4K resolution and USB-C laptop charging. TechRadar based its assessment partly on a four-star review of the otherwise similar Full HD model.
