Dell unveils 14-inch Dell 14S at IFA 2026 as a MacBook Neo rival for students
Dell introduced the Dell 14S at IFA 2026, a student-focused Windows 11 alternative to Apple's MacBook Neo, but has not yet announced pricing.
The laptop is offered in four finishes: velvet green, dusty rose, linen, and washed denim. It is powered by Intel Core Series 3 processors, code-named Wildcat Lake, which Dell has positioned as affordable, power-efficient chips. The baseline configuration packs 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, while higher-tier options move up to 16GB of RAM and either a 512GB or 1TB SSD.
TechRadar describes the 14S as a less ambitious version of Dell's XPS 13, with a slightly thicker and heavier chassis: it measures 13.5mm and weighs 1.15kg. The base display is a non-touch 1920 x 1200 panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nits of brightness, while the higher-end version has a sharper 2880 x 1800 display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Dell has not yet given the Dell 14S a price, an omission that TechRadar says is significant for a laptop pitched at the wallet-friendly end of the market. Citing Dell representatives, The Verge reported that pricing will be "close" to the $700 starting price of the XPS 13 in the US but "slightly more accessible."
TechRadar voiced concern about the missing price tag, noting that some manufacturers at recent trade shows have held back recommended prices amid pressure from rising memory costs and broader component inflation. The publication said the RAM crisis is expected to make hardware more expensive as 2026 continues, with further increases possible in 2027.
