Delta 2.0 Adds iPhone Duo Support, Sega Genesis Games and Pokémon DLC
Delta 2.0 adds iPhone Duo and Sega Genesis support, animated skins, Pokémon DLC and a Liquid Glass redesign.
The iPhone Duo support is a standout addition. Delta 2.0 optimizes controller skins for “every pose in both portrait and landscape,” Riley Testut, the app’s creator, told The Verge. Users can still use split-view multitasking while running other apps. Folding the Duo puts emulated Nintendo DS games into sleep mode, just as closing the lid of a real DS would.
The update also adds Sega Genesis games, with new iPhone and iPad controller skins that “recreate the classic Genesis controller look,” according to The Verge. A DLC feature adds “custom in-game experiences for classic Pokémon games,” including event items and rare Pokémon. Testut said it will support all mainline Pokémon games released for the Game Boy Advance, with the first DLC coming “soon,” and that the Pokémon ROM hacking community developed it without AI tools.
Delta 2.0 includes experimental features as well. It supports Epilogue’s GB/SN Operator gadgets, which let users play old Nintendo cartridges on an iPhone or iPad. A Custom Filters feature changes the appearance of games with an overlay. Users can choose defaults such as a CRT-inspired filter or import their own to “experience games exactly how you first remember playing them,” The Verge reported.
The app’s interface has been rebuilt for Liquid Glass and adapts to all screen sizes across iPhones, iPads and the iPhone Duo, giving default artwork a light, glassy look. Delta 2.0 adds animated controller skins with support for third-party designs, new “recents” and “favorites” pages in the game library, and new settings options.
Delta is also adding global support for in-app purchases through a new “Become a Patron” option. The release marks the first time Delta will be released to the EU App Store, making it available globally on Apple’s app marketplace alongside AltStore PAL in supported regions, The Verge reported.
