Developer launches Hamilton, an offline Android health dashboard for Health Connect

A developer has launched Hamilton, a paid Android health dashboard that aggregates Health Connect data without internet permission.

Hamilton presents a homepage that shows key metrics at a glance. Users can choose which data source to use in order to avoid double counting, and they can overlay and offset metrics on charts to view correlations and track progress over time. The developer said the app reads Health Connect data in a read-only view. It cannot delete Health Connect data, and it cannot transmit data because it has no internet permission.

The app fetches data hourly from Health Connect if background access is granted, according to the developer, and it works with Android battery-saving rules. The developer wrote that the initial idea was an app that disabled Google Pay whenever the phone detected it was within 50 metres of a McDonald's, but he pivoted to the Health Connect dashboard. In the FAQ, the app answer denies that the metrics shown on the Play Store are the developer's, giving joking figures about body fat, daily steps and resting heart rate, while the dog answer says yes. Hamilton is available on Google Play, and the project also has a separate page for the dog.
