Developer launches terminalthemes.com with over 800 terminal themes
A developer launched terminalthemes.com, a free web app with over 800 terminal themes and nearly 40 download formats.
The developer said the project followed 15 years of saying the repository would someday become a web app. The original GitHub repository, mbadolato/iTerm2-Color-Schemes, remains online, and the new site is described as a next-generation version.
The app provides downloads for iTerm, Ghostty, Windows, and many other terminals. It is free for everyone. Browsing and downloading do not require an account, but registering for a free account allows users to vote, bookmark, submit themes, and use other features.
The developer said the focus included accessibility features, along with a "Find My Theme" tool and other tools to make it easier to find a theme. Live terminal and code previews are intended to show a more realistic view of a terminal than the ANSI screenshots used at the GitHub repository. Those ANSI screenshots are still available for users who prefer them.
The developer thanked the community that has contributed themes, ports to other terminals, and tools to convert between formats over the years. Contributors to the GitHub repository are asked to register for an account, find their themes, and click the "Claim Authorship" button.
The Hacker News post invited readers to try the app and provide feedback or feature suggestions. At the time it appeared, the post had 4 points and no comments.
