Developer Pairs Apple Watch Ultra 2 With Android Without an iPhone

Apple Watch Ultra 2 paired with Android without iPhone, but project needs rooted phone and stays limited.

The project does more than simply connect the two devices, according to the report. It allows the Apple Watch to be paired and activated without an iPhone, and it offers some basic management options. Users can check battery information, manage watch faces, and adjust certain settings.

The report said the project is still far from delivering the full Apple Watch experience. Several features remain incomplete. It currently requires a rooted Android phone and has only been verified on a OnePlus 13.

Apple Watch devices are normally limited to pairing with an iPhone, as far as Apple is concerned. The Android Authority report said the developer paired an Apple Watch Ultra 2 directly with an Android phone, bypassing that restriction.

The report also listed caveats for anyone interested in trying the project. The need for a rooted Android phone and the incomplete feature set mean the setup is not yet a broad replacement for the standard Apple Watch and iPhone pairing.
