Docusign Launches Desktop PDF Editor for Its Agreement Management Platform

Docusign released Docusign PDF Editor, a desktop app that lets users edit, redact and convert PDFs before sending them for signature, plugged into its Intelligent Agreement Management platform. It goes on sale Nov. 2 in six languages.

The release addresses a gap the company says its customers face when contracts are prepared in one tool and signed in another, where even a minor edit can require exporting and uploading a fresh version. Such edits can now be made inside the editor itself.

According to Docusign, the application covers routine PDF tasks that would otherwise require a separate program, including changing text and images or combining several files into one document. Redaction of sensitive information is included, along with form creation and file conversion. Documents can be sent for signature from inside the app, and changes made beforehand remain linked to the agreement history as part of an auditable record.

Signing locks the file. After that point, the agreement passes to Docusign's artificial intelligence tools, where renewal dates and potential risks surface and teams can query what their contracts say.

Graham Sheldon, who became Docusign's chief product officer in July after holding the same role at UiPath Inc., described the launch as a way to keep contract work in one place. "You shouldn't have to jump in between tools just to get a contract ready for signature," Sheldon said. He called the editor the latest step in bringing the full agreement process together under IAM. Before UiPath, he spent more than 20 years at Microsoft Corp.

Docusign is targeting legal, sales, procurement and human resources staff. By the company's account, keeping everything in one system reduces manual handoffs and version confusion, and sensitive documents pass through fewer applications.

IAM dates to April 2024, when Docusign moved beyond e-signatures into broader contract management. PDF editing is the newest addition to a system that already covered creating, signing and managing agreements.

In its fiscal second-quarter results last month, the company reported revenue of $875.7 million, up 9% from a year earlier. IAM accounted for 15.1% of annual recurring revenue at the end of July, compared with 12.6% three months before. Docusign expects that share to reach 18% to 19% by the end of its fiscal year in January.

The company has not disclosed pricing for the app, which goes on sale to IAM and eSignature customers on Nov. 2 in six languages, including English, French and German. Support for additional languages is planned for 2027.
