Doosan to invest 970 billion won to expand CCL capacity for AI data centers
Doosan Group plans to spend 970 billion won (US$701.5 million) through 2028 to expand copper clad laminate capacity in South Korea and China for AI accelerators, network switches and optical modules.
Copper clad laminate, or CCL, is a key material used in printed circuit boards for AI accelerators, network switches and optical modules, components that are widely deployed in AI data centers.
Of the total, 420 billion won is earmarked for expanding the group's domestic CCL production lines for optical modules. The remaining 550 billion won will fund a new plant in China that will turn out CCLs for AI accelerators and network switches.
Doosan said the investments will be made in phases over three years through 2028. The new production lines are scheduled to begin operations sequentially in the second half of 2028.
The plan covers both countries and the full three-year period, with the domestic optical module lines and the Chinese plant accounting for the two parts of the spending, the company said.
The announcement was reported by Yonhap News Agency. No production capacity or revenue targets were disclosed in the report.
