EE Becomes First UK Carrier to Set iPhone Handoff Pricing
EE will offer Apple’s iPhone Handoff free on its Full Works Plus plan and for £5 a month on other plans, making it the first UK carrier to announce pricing for the eSIM-switching feature.
iPhone Handoff allows customers to use the same eSIM across multiple iPhones and switch back and forth between two models with the same mobile number. Apple announced the feature at its September keynote and said it requires carrier support. At the time, Apple named T-Mobile, Verizon, EE and Deutsche Telekom as supporting carriers. T-Mobile has said the feature will be available as a $5-a-month add-on for a line, while Verizon has announced a $10-a-month price.
EE said iPhone Handoff will be included with its Full Works Plus plan, which includes Fast Lane, or available for £5 per month on a rolling contract. The carrier said the feature lets customers choose the iPhone that suits the moment without worrying about missing a call, message or notification, and that contacts, calls and messages move with them whether they are going to a festival, for a run, on an all-day hike or travelling lighter. EE described the offering as a level of flexibility and convenience not available elsewhere in the UK.
The feature is still listed as “coming soon.” Apple has said it will be available by the end of the year.
