Elon Musk’s AI-powered Grokipedia is updating again

Grokipedia, SpaceXAI's AI-powered online encyclopedia, is showing new updates after a months-long pause, with some pages recently fact-checked and others still months out of date.

The renewed activity seems relatively recent. The page for President Barack Obama carries a note saying it was “Fact-checked by Grok” two days ago, and the page for Elon Musk was fact-checked within the last hour while The Verge was writing. But the page for Honolulu, reached from Obama's page, was last fact-checked seven months ago, suggesting not every page has received a recent scan.

The Verge also tested Grokipedia's editing process. While writing the article, the reporter suggested an update to the Gears of War: E-Day page to note the game's October 6 release date, and Grokipedia accepted the suggestion and now lists the date. The reporter also requested an article about Meta's Muse chatbot, and that request is listed as “In Review.”

The pause had been documented earlier. In August, Lawfare reported that articles on Grokipedia had not reviewed edits since April. The Verge reported that SpaceXAI did not immediately reply to a request for comment. Elon Musk still has not posted on X about Grokipedia since February. About a year ago, Musk claimed Grokipedia would be “a massive improvement over Wikipedia.”

Benji Taylor, the head of design at X and SpaceXAI, posted last week about Grokipedia. He said, “We haven't forgotten about Grokipedia,” and that “v0.2 will be better than ever,” according to The Verge. The report noted that v0.2 technically launched in November.
