Engadget Comparison: iPhone Duo and Pixel 11 Pro Fold Differ in Design, Cameras and Price
Engadget compares Apple's iPhone Duo and Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold, highlighting differences in screen design, camera systems, battery life and pricing.
The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner display, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a 6.5-inch outer screen and an 8-inch inner display. Engadget says the Duo's wider aspect ratio is better for consuming content when open, but its outer screen may seem small. The Pixel's square aspect ratio can make some content, such as vertical or widescreen videos, look odd, but its outer screen is closer to a conventional smartphone. The Pixel's screens peak at 3,600 nits, compared with 3,000 nits on the Duo, which has a nano-texture layer to reduce glare and minimize the crease. The Duo weighs 254 grams and measures 11.3 mm when closed; the Pixel weighs 239 grams and is 10.1 mm thick. Apple uses a titanium frame and Ceramic Shield glass on the back, while Google uses a fiberglass composite back and ceramic glass on the outer screen. Both carry IP68 water and dust protection.
Apple has optimized iOS 27 for the Duo's form factor, adding Duo-only features such as split-screen mode, and the interface adapts to any orientation, including a half-folded tent mode. Engadget notes that Android still does not always take full advantage of foldable phones, with many apps simply stretching their interfaces rather than showing additional controls or different actions.
In cameras, Engadget says the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a big advantage. It has a 48-megapixel main camera plus 10-megapixel ultra-wide and 10-megapixel telephoto sensors for optical zoom. Engadget's review called it the best camera system on any foldable, despite the lower resolution of its ultra-wide and telephoto sensors compared with the standard Pixel 11 Pro. The iPhone Duo has two 48-megapixel cameras, wide and ultra-wide, but no optical zoom or variable aperture like the iPhone 18 Pro.
Battery life is hard to compare because the iPhone Duo has not yet reached stores, Engadget says. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours on the outer screen. In Engadget's review testing, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold lasted about 27 hours playing video on the external screen, more than Google's promised 24 hours. The Duo can reach 50 percent charge in about 20 minutes with a 60W power adapter, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is limited to 30W charging and takes 30 minutes to reach 50 percent.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB of storage and goes up to $3,199 for the 2TB version; Apple is taking pre-orders. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is already on sale and starts at $1,899 for 256GB. Engadget says the prices are close, so the choice comes down to priorities: a better camera system or a preference for iOS.
Editor's Summary
Engadget's comparison shows that Apple's iPhone Duo and Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold differ most in screen proportions, camera flexibility and charging speed, while both carry premium prices and IP68 protection. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold offers a stronger camera system and brighter screens, while the iPhone Duo emphasizes a wider inner display and faster charging. For buyers, the decision hinges on whether they value camera versatility or Apple's ecosystem and design.
