Mozilla Adds AI Form Filling and Webpage Monitoring to Firefox Smart Window
Mozilla adds AI form filling and page monitoring to Firefox Smart Window beta in the US and Canada.
The form tool can help users fill online forms from information in their open tabs. Mozilla says Smart Window can, for example, pull information from an online portfolio or LinkedIn page to paste work history into a job application. A user can click into a form with at least four text fields and choose an option called Fill from sources, which shows the tabs Firefox will draw from. The user can select or deselect tabs, and the browser generates suggestions based on the information in them. The feature currently supports text fields on web forms; Mozilla is working to add support for dropdown menus and PDFs. Mozilla says data from source pages is shared with Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite, the AI model that generates the text suggestions.
Smart Window can also watch a webpage for sales, new job listings and other updates. A user sets up a task by typing /watch in the Smart Window chat, describing what to look for and adding the webpages to watch. Firefox can check for updates daily or weekly, but only when the browser is open. When it detects the change, it sends a notification through the Tasks button on the toolbar or on the desktop if desktop notifications are enabled. Firefox pauses watching if it does not detect a change after 60 days and stops after 90 days.
Both features are rolling out to the Smart Window beta on desktop in the US and Canada, The Verge reported. Mozilla says they will be available in other countries in the coming months.
