Twelve South launches Airfly View Bluetooth dongle with built-in screen

Twelve South launches Airfly View, a $79.99 Bluetooth audio dongle with built-in screen, guided setup in 24 languages, and up to 16 hours of battery life, sold on Amazon.

The screen is the main change from earlier Airfly models. It shows each step of pairing on its own display in any of 24 languages, whether the user sets it up at home the night before a flight or at the gate before boarding. On a plane, the screen shows which headphones are connected and how much battery is left, then turns off when the device is not in use. Twelve South says the screen also makes it easier to know when the Airfly View needs charging.

The Airfly View offers up to 16 hours of battery life and can connect two wireless headphones at once. It includes a zippered hard-shell travel case and an international airline adapter. Twelve South says the device works with seatbacks, gym equipment, cars, boats and home stereos, and it supports Auracast broadcast audio. It is available in black and coastal color options.

The Airfly View builds on Twelve South’s existing Airfly accessory, which travelers use to connect AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones to seat-back entertainment screens that lack native Bluetooth support. The same accessory can make a headphone jack wireless in other settings. The company last month introduced the AirFly Drive, its first wireless CarPlay adapter, which is back in stock after initially selling out, 9to5Mac reported.
