England vs Sri Lanka ODI Series Starts September 22; Sky Sports and Willow TV to Show Matches

The first match is scheduled for September 22 in Chester-le-Street. The series then moves to Leeds on September 24 before the final match at the Kennington Oval on September 27. TechRadar reports that tickets for the matches are available via Seat Unique.

England enter the series after clean-sweeping The Lions 3-0 in the T20 series. Harry Brook’s side is seventh in the ICC ODI rankings, below Sri Lanka, but TechRadar reports that England will be confident of another series victory given their recent form. England won 2-1 in Sri Lanka earlier this year and then beat India 2-1 at home, with Joe Root named Player of the Series on both occasions. Root has scored 525 runs in ODIs this year at an average of 105 and is expected to anchor the middle order. Harry Brook, Jos Buttler and Will Jacks provide power around him. England will be without Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran, who are both sidelined with injuries.

Selection could be difficult for Brook because almost every player in contention is in good form, according to TechRadar. The biggest question is who replaces Bethell at the top of the order. Jordan Cox and Tom Banton are the obvious options, although all-rounder Rehan Ahmed opened against Sri Lanka in January. In the bowling attack, Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, Adil Rashid and all-rounder Jamie Overton are expected to play, with one of Sonny Baker or Gus Atkinson also in line.

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis and captain Kusal Mendis will be vital, TechRadar reports. Kusal Mendis missed the T20 series because of injury. Their spin trio of Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage will also be key, although on English pitches their pace options will need to step up as well.

TechRadar’s viewing guide says the series will be shown on Sky Sports in the UK, with live coverage on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event. In India, the series is on the Sony Sports Network with live streaming via Sony LIV. Sony LIV plans start at ₹599 for the Mobile-Only yearly plan, while the Premium yearly plan costs ₹999. In Australia, Fox Cricket via Foxtel will show the series, with streaming via Kayo Sports. Kayo subscriptions start at AU$30 per month after a 7-day free trial, or the first month for AU$1. In South Africa, Supersport will broadcast the series, and a DStv access package is required.
