Enveda raises $311M Series E to advance nature-derived AI drugs into clinical trials

Enveda raised $311 million at a $2 billion valuation to advance AI-discovered, nature-derived drugs into clinical trials.

The round was led by Catalio Capital Management, with participation from Iconiq and other investors. The new valuation doubles the valuation Enveda reached 12 months ago.

Enveda’s premise is that powerful medicines can be harnessed from plants and microbes rather than synthesized from scratch in a lab. Viswa Colluru, an early employee of Recursion Pharmaceuticals, founded Enveda in 2019 to speed up the discovery of these new drugs using AI and other techniques.

The startup is currently testing several drugs in patients. One targets severe skin conditions, and another is designed to help maintain weight loss after people stop taking GLP-1s.

Enveda is among a wave of companies advancing AI-discovered candidates into human clinical trials, even though AI has not yet produced any FDA-approved drugs.

The funding and valuation details were reported by TechCrunch AI, which said the Series E was led by Catalio Capital Management with participation from Iconiq and others. The report said the financing doubles Enveda’s valuation from 12 months earlier and that the company is testing multiple drugs in patients.
