Epic Games adds cross-platform voice chat to Fortnite with Epic Parties

The feature allows players to enter voice chats across different games and platforms. A player can start a chat in Epic's app and seamlessly transfer it into a Fortnite match. Epic Parties is cross-platform, so users can communicate regardless of their hardware. On mobile, or while playing other titles from the Epic Games Store, the chat can continue in the background.

Players who accept an Epic Party invite will automatically be placed in the same Fortnite lobby together while in-game. The new voice feature builds on text chat capabilities the company began rolling out across its services last year. Players can invite each other to a party from their friends list, and an existing text chat can be moved to voice by clicking a "Start Party" button in the chat window.
