Epson EcoTank ET-2861 Ink Tank Printer Cut to £179.99 on Amazon, TechRadar Says

Amazon has cut the price of the Epson EcoTank ET-2861 ink tank printer to £179.99 from £239.99, a £60 saving, according to TechRadar, which recommends it for households that print regularly and want to avoid replacement cartridges.

The ET-2861 prints, scans and copies. It has refillable ink tanks, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct, a 100-sheet paper tray and borderless photo printing, and TechRadar says up to three years of ink is included in the box. Epson states that one set of ink bottles can produce up to 4,500 black-and-white pages or 7,500 color pages.

According to TechRadar, the printer was easy to set up and use, and the front display makes it simple to check how much ink remains. The writer said cartridges for a previous HP printer cost £167.50 each, which is £12.49 less than the entire discounted Epson printer with ink included.

TechRadar notes that the ET-2861 has sold for less before. Its writer paid £129.99 a few months ago, and the price could fall again during Black Friday or Prime Day. The higher upfront cost compared with many conventional cartridge printers is offset over time, according to Epson, which claims its refillable tank system can reduce printing costs by up to 95 percent.

The equivalent model in the United States, the Epson EcoTank ET-2800, usually sells for $239.99 and is currently on sale at Amazon for $199.99, TechRadar reports.

TechRadar's buying advice is split by usage. The ET-2861 suits households that print regularly and are tired of buying expensive cartridges, particularly for family use, homework and everyday color printing. It is not aimed at people who print only a handful of pages each year and want the cheapest possible machine, since the lower-cost ink system only pays off with steady use.
