Epson EcoTank ET-4950 falls to $370 for Prime Day, matching its June low

Epson's cartridge-free EcoTank ET-4950 all-in-one is down to $369.99 at Amazon for Prime Day, $130 off list price. TechRadar, which rates it 4.5 stars and calls it its top home printer pick, notes the price matches a June low but is not a record.

TechRadar rates the ET-4950 as its top pick among home printers and awarded it 4.5 stars in its review. The machine prints, copies, scans and faxes, and carries a 250-sheet paper tray, Ethernet, USB and Wi-Fi connections, and a touchscreen control panel. It also supports automatic two-sided printing and scanning, includes a 30-sheet document feeder, and reaches print speeds of up to 35 pages per minute in black and 23 pages per minute in color.

The publication's senior printer editor, Jim, said of the model, "I can't find another mid-price printer so loaded with features and ink." According to TechRadar, he found the touchscreen responsive and the print speeds prompt, and he said the printer will not be beaten on cost per page. Ink supplied in the box is rated for roughly 15,100 black pages or 5,500 color pages, which the publication cites as the main reason the upfront price is easy to justify.

TechRadar does not recommend the ET-4950 for every buyer. It advises skipping the printer for households that print only a few pages a month, and notes that the model lacks a USB host port, NFC and Bluetooth. It also cannot scan heavy paper or print from a multi-purpose tray, according to the review.

The ET-4950 sits in TechRadar's best home printer guide, where the publication positions it for home offices and busy households that print and scan frequently and want to stop buying ink cartridges.
