ETH Zurich Students Build 'First Swiss Humanoid', Eye Fundraising

ETH Zurich students have built a '100% Swiss-made' humanoid robot and are eyeing fundraising for a friendlier home robot.

The robot was built by the ETH Robotics Club. Declan Shine, the club's president, said he wants the human-like bot to be a "lighter, friendlier and squishier" home robot than rivals, Sifted reported.

The project is also eyeing fundraising, according to the report. The robot has been described as the first Swiss humanoid. The report did not provide further details about the robot's specifications, production timeline or funding target.

The club's goal is to create a home robot that differs from existing humanoid machines. Shine's description points to a design that is lighter and more approachable than rival robots, with a softer physical presence. The team hopes the project can eventually compete in the humanoid sector.
