Ex-F1-linked British firm unveils TigerShark attack drone with 466-mph speed
British engineering company MGI Engineering has unveiled TigerShark, a low-cost one-way attack drone with a 300-kg payload, 900-km range, and GPS-jamming resistance, aimed at allied forces.
The TigerShark is launched from a ground-based vehicle with a rocket-assisted system, after which twin turbojet engines take over and the rocket is jettisoned. It is built for coordinated salvo launches, allowing multiple drones to overwhelm enemy air defenses. MGI Engineering says the drone’s modular payload bay can support missions ranging from warhead delivery to electronic disruption.
MGI Defence, a subsidiary of MGI Engineering, first presented the TigerShark at the DSEI exhibition in 2025. The company now plans to bring it to market within months, targeting Britain’s strategic allies as a more affordable and faster-to-acquire alternative to conventional intermediate-range cruise missiles such as Storm Shadow or Tomahawk. The TigerShark is designed for rapid assembly and delivery, and its lower cost could ease shrinking defense budgets.
The drone will be available from October 2026, with production to be increased later that year. It will be manufactured in the UK, and export licenses will be granted to friendly countries. MGI stated that TigerShark enables defense forces to engage defended or distant targets with speed, precision, and autonomy, without relying on satellite navigation or real-time control.
