Ex-OpenAI robotics lead's factory startup Daedalus enters insolvency proceedings

German factory automation startup Daedalus, founded by ex-OpenAI robotics lead Jonas Schneider, has entered insolvency proceedings, Sifted reports.

Sifted reported that Schneider set up the company in 2024. Before founding Daedalus, he worked at OpenAI as a technical lead on robotics. Daedalus developed automation technology for factories.

The report was based on court filings in Germany, where the company is based. Sifted covers European technology and startups.

Sifted's account of the filing did not include the names of the company's creditors, the number of employees affected or the value of its assets. No statement from Schneider or from Daedalus was included in the report.

The case is the second insolvency disclosed this month for a venture-backed European automation company, according to court records cited in the same report.
