ExpressVPN launches native app for Amazon Fire TV Vega OS devices

ExpressVPN adds native Fire TV app for Vega OS, becoming the fourth VPN provider on Amazon's new platform.

The rollout gives owners of the newest Fire TV Sticks a mainstream VPN option that many had been waiting months for. TechRadar describes the launch as significant, because ExpressVPN is one of the largest names in the VPN category, and its arrival expands a field that had so far included only three providers on Vega OS. NordVPN and IPVanish were the first with native apps when Amazon enabled VPN support, and Surfshark joined later with a WireGuard-based app. ExpressVPN brings the total to four.

ExpressVPN says the Vega OS app was designed around the way people actually use a TV, keeping main controls within easy reach rather than buried in menus. Users can connect or disconnect, choose a VPN location and manage the connection with a remote. Frequently used locations can be pinned to Favorites for quick access. Sign-in also is built for remote use, including QR code sign-in where available, so users do not have to type a long password. The app runs ExpressVPN's Lightway protocol, which the company says is designed to keep connections fast and stable for HD and 4K streaming.

Setup is straightforward. On a supported Fire TV device, users open the Amazon Appstore, search for ExpressVPN, download the app, sign in with an account, then choose a location and connect. The device asks for a one-time system VPN permission that Amazon introduced when it enabled VPN support on the platform. If the app does not appear, TechRadar advises checking that the device is supported and updated to the latest software.

ExpressVPN subscriptions start at $2.49 per month on the two-year plan, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. TechRadar notes the price is on par with NordVPN. ExpressVPN said it plans to expand support as new devices and updates arrive.
