Fairphone to Launch Fairbuds 2 Repairable Earbuds on October 14

According to The Verge, the new model carries forward the repairability that set the original Fairbuds apart, using "seven fully replaceable and modular parts." The earbuds were first shown in leaks earlier this month that pointed to a major redesign, and Fairphone posted an official teaser on X a day before confirming the details.
The Fairbuds 2 add support for Sony's LDAC codec, which covers high-resolution and adaptive Bluetooth audio. The first-generation Fairbuds supported only the SBC and AAC codecs, the same set used by Apple's AirPods.
The original Fairbuds arrived more than two years ago, debuting in 2024 at €149, or roughly $162 at the time. They have since fallen to $99.99 in the United States, making the €119 and $119 pricing of the Fairbuds 2 higher than the current price of the model they replace but below its original launch price.
Fairphone has not announced further specifications for the Fairbuds 2 or said whether the European and US release dates differ beyond Europe coming first.
