Fantastical Plans Native Googlebook Release, Skipping Android Phones and Tablets

Fantastical is coming to Google's ecosystem through a native Googlebook release, skipping Android phones and tablets for now.

Fantastical began on Apple's platforms and later expanded to Windows. In the 15 years it has been available, the calendar app has not been offered for Google's ecosystem, according to the report. Flexibits is now planning a native Googlebook release, marking the app's first step into Google's product pool.

Android Authority said the move may be the first time an app has skipped Android proper in order to launch a Googlebook edition. The report noted that software is not always available across all major platforms, and that most iOS-only apps that expand to Google's ecosystem become available for Android phones. Fantastical is taking a different route by planning a Googlebook release instead, at least for now.

The app will offer a free version, as well as several premium paid tiers, according to Android Authority. Fantastical is described as a powerful scheduling solution.
