FiiO FG3 gaming headset: Audiophile heritage, but mixed gaming performance, TechRadar review says

The FG3 was unveiled in June 2026 and is available in the US, UK and Europe. It uses a coaxial dual-driver setup — a 50mm dynamic driver and a 16mm dynamic driver — which is uncommon in gaming-focused headphones. A lightweight DAC control module lets users switch EQ presets, mute, or adjust volume. The wired headset connects via 3.5mm or USB-C, with a USB-A adapter included, and is compatible with PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. It weighs 0.69 lbs (0.31 kg).

TechRadar's audio journalist said the dual-driver configuration and EQ modes work well for music, which is FiiO's traditional strength. For gaming, however, the low end frequently sounds 'muddy and rumbly,' allowing layered sound design in immersive or action-packed games to suffer; higher-pitched sounds cut through more effectively. Dialogue-heavy or rhythm games, the review said, could still benefit from the tuning.

Comfort drew criticism. The ear cups are soft, but the headband is too firm and the headphones squeeze, leading to growing aches during long sessions. The design was described as 'rough-and-ready,' with a thin metal headband and some cheap-feeling plastic elements; the cups fold and the mic is removable, making the unit portable, though no carry case is supplied.

The review praised the web-based control app, calling it 'a breath of fresh air' in a world of bloatware, although EQ control is unavailable without an internet connection. At its list price, the FG3 undercuts many wired rivals and matches the RIG R5 Spear Pro HS, TechRadar's top-rated pick. The removable, flexible microphone and compact folding design were also positives. The reviewer suggested a $10/£10 discount would make it 'an absolute bargain,' and said they hope the brand's second gaming headset will improve on this first effort.
