Final’s 40-Gram Porta Wireless Headphones Open for Preorder
Final’s Porta wireless headphones weigh 40 grams and cost about $80, with preorders open ahead of October 23 shipping.
The Porta is available for preorder through Final’s online store for 12,800 yen, or around $80, with black or orange ear pads. Shipping is expected to begin on October 23. The company also has an Amazon shop for US-based customers, but the Porta is not listed there yet.
The headphone’s design looks loosely inspired by the lightweight headphones Sony bundled with its Walkmans decades ago, according to The Verge. Its functionality is basic. A 57mAh battery charges over USB-C and provides up to eight hours of use while the Porta is wirelessly paired to a device using Bluetooth 5.4 and streaming audio over the SBC and AAC codecs.
The Porta has no active noise cancellation, which is not uncommon for on-ear headphones that do not create a full seal. It carries an IPX4 rating, so it should be usable in rain or while working up a sweat without concern about moisture damage.
The preorder launch places the Porta among lightweight wireless headphones aimed at people who find earbuds or clip-ons uncomfortable or insecure. Final’s online store is taking orders now, while US customers checking the company’s Amazon shop will not find the Porta there yet.
