First "Tap" Robot Rental Experience Store Opens in Shanghai with Alipay Integration
The first "Tap" robot rental store opens in Shanghai, letting users tap to rent and control robots via Alipay.
On the opening day, Ji Shi Zu and Alipay launched a quiz challenge featuring multiple Unitree robots placed in the mall. Customers could tap their phones to answer questions, with each level passed offering a chance to control a robot dog, and completing all three levels unlocking a hidden reward: a robot group dance performance.
Liu, a local resident who tried the experience, said, "The experience at the Ji Shi Zu embodied intelligence store was amazing! After paying with a tap, I could command it to move, and I felt much closer to robots." A store staff member added that after trying, customers can also complete payment via Alipay's "Tap" and rent the robot to take home.
Alipay's "Tap" feature completed its AI upgrade in July this year, now covering 400 million users, more than 2,300 ecosystem service providers, and over 30 million offline AI contact points, forming what is described as the world's first large-scale offline AI business network.
Industry analysts said that by leveraging Alipay's "Tap", Ji Shi Zu has connected the entire service chain from payment to robot interaction. This not only opens new commercial scenarios for embodied intelligence and speeds up the entry of intelligent robots into homes, but also confirms that "Tap" is becoming a new AI business entry point for offline merchants, helping AI services move from the digital world into the physical world as a new commercial productivity.
