Fitbit founders launch Luffu Link, an LTE health and safety band
Fitbit co-founders' startup Luffu has launched Luffu Link, an LTE health and safety band for family caregivers, with pre-orders at $250.
The device is available for pre-order at $250 and is expected to ship in early 2027. It comes in halo gold, onyx black and sterling blue. Luffu said the LTE data service is included, so no separate carrier plan is required.
Luffu was founded out of Park and Friedman's own experiences caring for their families and aging parents. Park told TechCrunch that family caregivers spend over 27 hours a week on average, and the existing tools to help them are fragmented. Luffu Link complements the Luffu health-monitoring app launched earlier this year, which uses AI in the background to gather family information, learn day-to-day patterns and flag notable changes.
The wearable continuously collects health data such as activity, sleep, resting heart rate, calories burned, heart-rate variability and breathing rate. Users can press a button to capture voice notes about medications, symptoms, meals, mood and reminders. Built-in GPS keeps trusted contacts informed of the wearer's location, including where they have been and when they enter or leave specific areas. A quick double press lets the wearer check in without calling or texting. In an emergency, the wearer can press the button and say, "I fell and hurt my wrist. Can someone come get me?" Link then sends the voice message along with the wearer's location, battery level and health data to trusted family members.
The band has no screen, taking design cues from jewelry. Park said the device is meant to be a "quiet guardian" on the wrist, not a traditional wearable. Luffu also teased that it is developing a home device that extends the system into the home. The expected retail price after the pre-order period is $300.
