Formula 1 on Apple TV Adds Dolby Atmos in U.S. With United States Grand Prix
Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. can now watch Formula 1 live in Dolby Atmos, beginning with this weekend's United States Grand Prix.
The first practice session had finished by the time of the report, but subscribers can still watch the second practice on Friday at 5 p.m. ET, the third practice on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET, qualifying on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET and the race on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. The report described the race as the first Formula 1 event to be broadcast in Dolby Atmos.
Apple said Dolby Atmos surrounds viewers with race-weekend sound, including team radio and commentary, engines, on-track battles and pit-lane activity. The company said the audio is paired with Dolby Vision for colors and clarity. "Dolby Atmos surrounds fans with the sounds of race weekend, from team radio and commentary to roaring engines, on-track battles, and pit-lane intensity," Apple said, according to the report. "Paired with Dolby Vision’s rich colors and lifelike clarity, the combination delivers exceptional sound and spectacular visuals that put fans at the heart of the action."
To mark the United States Grand Prix, Apple will host a live screening of Sunday's race at its Domain NORTHSIDE store in Austin, Texas. Apple also recently expanded its Detailed City Experience in Apple Maps to Austin and added a detailed map of the Circuit of The Americas with turn numbers, grandstands, 3D landmarks and other venue information.
Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle, according to the report. The service carries shows and movies including Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
