MaxMind is a provider of IP-address location data and fraud prevention tools. Its flagship product, GeoIP, is used by streaming companies, security vendors, merchants and ad-network providers to identify how and where users access services. That information helps retailers display correct currency and helps flag suspicious bank logins.

Young’s engineering interest was shaped by internships, and he has volunteered at his children’s California high school to stay connected with what “the next generation of engineers are tinkering with.” Looking ahead, he said, “Working with my team to try to find patterns in data and solve challenging problems—to me, there’s no greater joy.”
